In the past two games, Macon Tigerette pitcher Jordan Simons has found herself in a pitcher's dual.
It was more of the same Thursday when the Tigerettes played host to the Lady Bulldogs of Louisiana.
Simons opponent for the night would be the Lady Dogs junior pitcher Kaitlyn Vanhooser, who proved to be as game as Jordan was.
Neither team had an edge in the game through the first four innings. Each time either team had a chance for runs, the pitchers would get out of danger with timely pitches and great defense.
The game's only run came in the fifth inning, when Macon's Anne Chambers crossed the plate on a wild pitch by Vanhooser to give the Tigerettes a 1-0 lead.
In the seventh inning, Simons looked to go the distance once again for the win.
Louisiana put the lead off hitter on base with a booming double to left field, but Simons would escape once more, getting the next three batters by groundout, popout and strikeout to preserve the victory.
Simons line score in the game looks like it has for most of the season. Going all seven innings, she gave up only three hits, walking two while striking out another 12 batters.
Vanhooser's numbers were nearly as good, going six innings, allowing an unearned run on two hits, walking two and striking out eight.
Anne Chambers walked in the fifth and scored the lone run. The two Macon hits belonged to Katie Clapp.
The varsity Tigerettes improve to 3-3 overall (3-1 CCC).
The JV Tigerettes took their turn against the Lady Bulldogs prior to the varsity game, and this one was as exciting as the senior players' game.
Louisiana would jump out in front in the first inning, scoring two runs off of pitcher Madison Ballance. The Tigerettes would bounce back in the bottom half with a run to make the score 2-1.
Macon would push across their second run in the third inning, but the Lady Bulldogs got the run right back in the fourth inning to retake the lead.
The Tigerettes were down to their final at-bats, and would push across two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to pull off the 4-3 come-from-behind victory.
For the starter, Madison Ballance, she went the first three innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits, walking two and striking out two.
Kallysta Frey pitched the fourth inning, allowing an earned run on two hits. Shana Oliver pitched the fifth inning, striking out one batter.
Kasey Hoelscher was 2-2 with a run scored. Mackenzie Reilly was 0-2 but had an RBI.
Elyse Wilhoit was 1-1 with an RBI. Mackenzie Claas was 1-1 with a run scored. Regan Gravitt was 2-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Jocie Hogsett was 1-2 with a run scored, and Shana Oliver was 1-2.
