Macon Health Care Center held their 12th annual Veterans Ceremony on Tuesday.
Veterans and guests were welcomed by MHCC Administrator Rachel Richardson.
Members of Macon American Legion Post #29 presented the colors accompanied by Gail Fitzgerald on the bagpipes.
Resident and veteran Leon Stambach led the Pledge of Allegiance. The National Anthem was led by Becky Wombwell.
Fifteen veteran residents of MHCC received a special certificate from the state capitol presented by Rep. Tim Remole, a gift bag from the American Legion Post #29 Auxiliary and a special dog tag from members of the Patriot Guard.
Certificated of appreciation were presented to other veterans present.
Remole was the keynote speaker.
“I am honored to be here today,” Remole told the veterans. “I appreciate you in whatever way you served, you insured our freedom.”
Remole encouraged the crowd to pray for our troops and especially those who have lost family members.
“Our country needs to come together,” he said. “We need to pray for our troops and pray for our country.”
Steve Paulsell spoke on the Mid-Missouri Honor Flight.
In his Remarks in Remembrance Jim Bolin emphasized three words, “Lest we forget”.
“This is why we have ceremonies such as this,” he said.
