  • Accidents over Labor Day weekend

  • There were several accidents in Macon County over Labor Day weekend. Read about them here.

  • The Missouri State Highway Patrol was busy over Labor Day weekend. The accidents reported in Macon County are as follows.
    On Friday, August 30, MSHP responded to an accident at approximately 3:30 p.m. Amy Gladback, 30, of La Plata failed to yield to Leo Carroll, 18, of St. Louis at the intersection of U.S. 63 and MO 156. Gladback ran into the side of Carroll's vehicle. After impact, Carroll's vehicle slid off the west side of U.S. 63. Gladbach left the scene. Carroll was wearing his safety device as well has his occupant, Nicholas Everding, 18, of St. Louis. Carroll suffered no injury. Everding suffered moderate injury and was transported by Adair County Ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center. Gladbach was not injured. The MSHP was assisted by Macon County Sheriff's Department, Macon County Ambulance, La Plata Fire, La Plata Police Department and Macon County Rescue Squad.
    On Friday, August 30, Aurelia Lowther, 23, of St. Louis struck Viveon Harper, 52, of Macon in the rear. They were traveling southbound on U.S. 63 at La Plata at approximately 3:35 p.m. Lowther left the scene. Harper had minor injury and was transported by Macon County Ambulance to Samaritan Memorial Hospital. The MSHP was assisted by Macon County Sheriff's Department and Macon Rural Fire.
    At approximately 6:55 p.m. on Friday, August 30, John Woodcock, 39, of Macon was traveling eastbound on Old U.S. 36 three miles west of Macon when James Garrigus, 47, of Bevier crossed the center line and struck Woodcock. Woodcock was wearing his safety device and was not injured. Garrigus was also wearing his safety device, but suffered minor injury. He sought his own medical treatment.
    At approximately 11:10 p.m on Saturday, August 31, MSHP responded to an accident five miles west of La Plata on MO 156 east of MO 3. Caroline Dawson, 29, of Jacksonville, Florida was traveling eastbound when her passenger, Robert Thomas, 30, also of Jacksonville jumped from the moving vehicle. Dawson was not injured. Thomas suffered moderate injury and was transported to Northeast Regional Hospital by Macon County Ambulance. The MSHP was assisted by La Plata Police Department and Fire Department, Macon County Sheriff's Department and Macon County Ambulance.
