  • The following Macon Moments in History were taken from the The Couch Potato's Guide to Macon City and Hudson compiled by Merlyn Amidei. They were in July 1931 editions of the Macon Chronicle-Herald.
    H.J. Marquith purchased the Friday Meat Market on the first floor east of Valencia.
    The city council met in the library basement and approved a park at Macon Lake. Theodore Gary will pay for the development and charge the city $1 for the land.
    A tornado hit  on July 18, 1931 causing major damage, uprooting trees and blowing out store fronts.
    A huge Jubilee event held at Crystal Lake for a picnic and entertainment. Over 1000 attended.
