Early Monday morning the Macon County Sheriff's Office responded to an address north of Callao in reference to a domestic disturbance. The victim reported to deputies that she was choked and punched in the face. The victim said the suspect left the residence on foot carrying a large knife and a handgun. Later that afternoon, the Sheriff's Office received a tip from a citizen that the suspect was at their house asking for water and to use a phone. Deputies and the Missouri State Highway Patrol K-9 unit responded to that area and located the suspect running through a wooded area. The suspect managed to elude law enforcement officers and the search was called off at sunset. Early Tuesday morning Macon County Deputies and Troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol were patrolling the area where the initial incident occurred and located the suspect crossing a gravel road. After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was apprehended and taken into custody unharmed. He was taken to the Macon County Jail where he is currently being held on charges of Domestic Assault 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. He was unable to the post a $10,000 cash only bond. He will appear in Macon County Associate Court on June 20.
