  • The following Macon Moment in History was taken from the June 18, 1980 edition of the Macon Chronicle-Herald.
    A new business, Shoes ‘n Such opened in downtown Macon. The owner is Dean Wilt with Chris Shatzer serving as manager and Bill Knowles as assistant manager. The new store is adjacent to La Femanique that is also managed by Shatzer.
    The Callao Jr. High Girls softball team won two games. Angela Dye was the winning pitcher against Bucklin 9-8. They defeated New Cambria 24-9. Cherie Mallett was the winning pitcher. Andrea Dye had a grand slam home-run.
    Mrs. Willie (Mildred) Weber was pictured with a ripe tomato that she grew on a patio tomato plant.
