On Wednesday, May 22, Baxter Roe, 89, of Macon was heading southbound on U.S. 63 three miles south of Macon when he slowed to make a left turn. He was struck in the rear by Justin Berry, 18, of Columbia. Berry's Chevy Camaro received extensive damage. He and his passenger John Richards, 17, of Holts Summit suffered minor injury and were transported to Samaritan Hospital—Berry by Private Auto and Richards by Rural Fire. Berry was wearing his safety device, Richards was not. Roe's Dodge Caravan received minor damage and he suffered minor injury. He was transported by Macon County Ambulance to Samaritan Hospital. Roe was wearing his safety device.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Macon Rural Fire Department.
