  • Two hurt in scooter wreck

  • A two-vehicle wreck Tuesday evening involving a scooter and a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville on Route PP east of Macon resulted in injuries to two individuals.
    According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2012 TaoTao scooter driven by Justina J. Griffin, 33, of Macon was traveling east and made a left turn from a gravel road into the eastbound lane of Route PP.
    The scooter was struck by a vehicle driven by Richard D. Herndon, 65, of Macon who was westbound on Route PP.
    The scooter came to rest in the roadway, while Herndon's vehicle came to rest off the north side of the roadway.
    Griffin suffered what appeared to be serious injuries. A rider on the scooter, London I. Griffin, 4, received minor injuries and were transported to Samaritan Hospital.
    None of the individuals involved in the accident were wearing a seatbelt.
    The patrol was assisted at the scene by Macon County Sheriff's Office, Macon Rural Fire Department and Macon County Ambulance.
