On Tuesday, May 7, the Macon County Sheriff's office arrested Jason F. Hopper, 40, after serving a search warrant at his girlfriend, Amanda Reed's residence in Callao.
Richard Compton, local business owner, provided information to the Sheriff's Department that stolen items from his business could be located on Reed's property. After obtaining a search warrant, deputies found Hopper and Reed at home where they located numerous items described by Compton as stolen. Items included tents, bicycles, ATV's, patio furniture, tools, electronics and sport goods—totaling more than $25,000.
Hopper is being charged with burglary of the second degree, stealing more than $25,000 and stealing a motor vehicle.
Hopper is currently housed in the Macon County Jail on a $20,000 cash-only bond. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
