  • On Sunday, April 28, six individuals earned a Scout's highest honor—an Eagle Scout badge.
"Scouts of all nations make up one of the most wholesome and significant movements in the world's history," said Scout Master Mark Thomas. "You have been judged by the Boy Scouts of America as being worthy of this honor. You are a marked man."
In order to earn an Eagle Scout badge, these individuals were tested along the scouting trail and also had to earn at least 21 merit badges. Recipients include Aaron Joel Laughlin, Grant Donovan Edward Douglas, Jacob Randall Beauchamp, John Patrick Ryan Dwiggins, Kevin Joseph Noyes and Skyler Evan Thomas.
During the ceremony, fathers pinned their Scout with their Eagle Scout badge and then the Eagle Scouts presented their mothers with a miniature pin. Also, Representative Tim Remole, State Senator Brian Munzlinger and Field Representative Naomi Boss presented the Eagle Scouts with awards and a Missouri State flag as well.
"It's not easy to become an Eagle Scout," said Munzlinger. "Being an Eagle Scout or just a Boy Scout helps set your moral compass straight."
In addition to earning Eagle Scout badges, four individuals earned a palm. A palm is awarded for every five merit badges earned in three months of active membership in the troop after earning the required 21 badges.
According to Assistant Scout Master Rich Bright, only about 4 percent of scouts nationally earn the Eagle Scout award and only 15 percent of eagles get the palm.
Those individual who received palms were Skyler Thomas, Grant Douglas, Aaron Laughlin and John Dwiggins.
After the ceremony, attendees were invited to a reception and to view the service projects done by each Eagle Scout.
"I feel like I've had a family of boys," said Mark Thomas. "They've all made me a better man. I appreciate all you've done."
