  • The Board of Public Works held its regular meeting on Monday, April 22 in the City Council's Chambers. The following were discussed.
    After approving minutes from the March 18 meeting, General Manager Stephanie Wilson noted highlights from the financials for the month of March 2013. Then the cost of service analyses for electric and water services were presented. As stated in the Macon Chronicle-Herald on Thursday, April 25, rate increases for electric and water services have been implemented starting with May 1 statements.
    Additionally, Wilson shared information from interviews that were conducted with four engineering firms regarding their qualification for engineering improvements to MMU's wastewater plant. The Macon Municipal Utilities staff selected Benton & Associates, Inc. to negotiate a contract to present to the Board of Public Works.
    After reviewing the operational updates for each department with no discussion, the meeting was adjourned.
    The next Board of Public Works meeting will be Monday, May 20 at 5:30 p.m.
