  • What happens when running for fun turns into running for your life? This was a reality for runners participating in the Boston Marathon on April 15. And on Saturday, April 27, runners plan on joining forces for a Boston Strong 5k in Columbia.
“There are a lot of runners who are from the Columbia area that went and were in the race whenever the bombing happened,” said Abigail Anderson, a grad student at Mizzou. “So we are just trying to let them know that we are all there for them.”
Anderson, the daughter of Jeani Hall of Macon, helped plan the Boston Strong 5k.
“My friend Casey Millburg called me last weekend and asked me if I would be interested in setting it up and I said sure,” said Anderson. “And it has gained a lot of support and attention so far which we are really proud of.”
The 5k is at Stephens Lake Park at 9:30 a.m. There is no registration; it is just asked that you wear Boston traditional colors—blue and yellow.
“There are just a lot of people who want to do something but they don’t know what to do so this is just an easy way to show that you care,” said Anderson.
