The Macon R-1 Board of Education held a board organizational meeting on Tuesday night in the central office conference room.
The board voted to accept the April 2, election results as reviewed by President Jim Rehard.
The board then approved the retirement of the current board, Sine Die.
Board Secretary Connie Kuhman administered the oath of office to new board members Jerry Martie and Joe Claypoole who were elected to the positions in the April election.
The new board selected Donny Wyatt as president and John Walker as vice-president.
A motion was approved to remove the names of Rehard and Byron Freeman from the district's bank signature cards and replace them with Wyatt and Walker.
Rehard and Freeman were recognized for their years of service to the board of education with a commemorative bell.
"It has been a very pleasurable nine years serving on the board," said Rehard. "I have enjoyed getting to know and working with members of the community."
"This has been the most rewarding six year period of my life," said Freeman. "I was glad to have the opportunity to give back to the community that has given so much to me."
Phyllis Barks, Associate Executive Director of Leadership Development and Susan Goldammer, Senior Director of Employment and Labor Relations with the Missouri School Board Association conducted a board training session for members.
The next regular meeting of the board has been moved to Monday, April 19, at 6 p.m. in the central conference room.
