A County Board of Education was organized. Members were: Mrs. H.G. Crawford of Atlanta, Elvon Richardson of Callao, Miss Mary Graves, Harley Hiatt of Atlanta, Stanley Roebuck of Excello, Preston Walker of Anabel and Elmo Ford of Callao.
The spring opening of curbside service at the A&W Drive-in located 1/4 mile east on Highway 36 was advertised. Those wanting curbside service were advised to turn on their lights, not blow their horns at night.
Macon County was recognized for outstanding success of their March of Dimes Fund Drive. The contributions of $5,255.88 were to go toward the fight against infantile paralysis. Mrs. Norman Humphrey was the chairman.
