If you have been out to Long Branch Lake you may have noticed a group of pelicans. According to Macon County Conservation Agent Matt Bergfield, they are American White Pelicans. And although these pelicans have been around Macon since the 90s, this is more than Bergfield has ever seen.
"We usually have 10-12. There are about 40-50, so this is quite a number," said Bergfield.
These pelicans migrate between the Gulf Coast and Canada. They have been here since mid-March into April and will head further north soon.
