This post is just a quick follow-up to the last one. I feel like you deserve a little more information about our funding sources for a typical year. Why not a chart? This chart clearly shows how critical donations are to the success of the Adair County Humane Society and its Animal Shelter.
As you can see, donations from private citizens -- whether in the form of membership fees, donations, or memorials -- account for about half of our annual revenue. The city of Kirksville provides and maintains the land on which the shelter is located, it also contributes a monthly stipend; this stipend accounts for roughly a third of our revenue. Adoptions and grants account for the rest.
Please note that the Adair County Humane Society receives no federal, state, or county funding; likewise we receive no regular financial support from national or state animal welfare organizations.
We depend on regular donations from community members to keep our doors open. In other words, we need you!
