Wednesday morning the Macon Police Department responded to a report of shoplifting. The investigation soon lead authorities to a possible meth lab contained within the vehicle near a set of gas pumps and secured the area. The Macon Fire Department and North Missouri Drug Task Force was called to assist at the scene. The lab was dismantled and removed from the area safely.
A total of four adults and two juveniles were taken into custody. Due to the juveniles, Macon Police Department contacted the Macon County Juvenile Office and the Children's Division for assistance. The juveniles were turned over to the Macon County Juvenile Office and were later released to family. At this time, police have obtained arrest warrants on four subjects: Chad D Bouma, age 27 of Novelty; Richard N Ewart, age 27 of Kirksville; Brandon J Grimes, age 17 of Novelty; and Justin A Lamb, age 35 of Kirksville. All four suspects are being charged with Manufacturing a Controlled Substance (Meth), Possession of Controlled Substance (Meth), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Meth) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. In addition, Justin Lamb was also charged with Resisting Arrest and Stealing. All four suspects are being held on $150,000 cash only bond (each).
A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
