  • The Macon City Council met Tuesday evening in the City Council Chambers. The following items were discussed.
First off, a request by Sharon Scott was made to allow tables and chairs in front of the Jaeger House during business hours from April to October for outside seating. The board approved this request for a year as a test run. There was also a request made by Chris West to designate an area on the street in front of 107 Vine as a loading zone. There is a partial unloading spot there currently, but there have been problems with long term parking in front of the business. The board also approved this request.
The committee appointed by Mayor Bagley to discuss the residency policy recommended to continue residency in the 10 mile radius of a concentric circle of City Hall within a 15 minute drive time eliminating the need for approval by the governing boards. This change to the amendment was approved.
During the Mayor's Report, he thanked the street department and Macon Utilities for their hard work clearing the streets after the snowstorm. He also complimented the Chamber of Commerce on their successful Banquet Friday evening.
Lastly was the City Administrators Report. Advanced Disposal, Macon Diversified Industry and Macon Economic Development are running a recycling trial in a targeted area of 200 homes. The residents of this area will be provided with recycling totes, which they can fill with cardboard and paper. The totes will be collected on the same day as trash pickup.
