According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Brandon Bode, 18, of Clarence crossed the center line on Highway 6 west of Highway F at approximately 1:26 p.m. on Sunday, March 10. This incident caused Leonard McCarty, 69, of Hurdland to drive partially off the edge of the roadway to miss Bode, however, the left front of Bode's Toyota Corolla struck the left side of McCarty's Dodge Caravan.
Bode was wearing his safety device and suffered from minor injuries. He was transported by the Adair County Ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville. His vehicle was marked totaled at the scene.
McCarty was not wearing his safety device and suffered minor injuries. Mary McCarty, 70, who was also in the Dodge Caravan, was not wearing her safety device. She suffered moderate damage. Both Leonard and Mary were transported by the Adair County Ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville. Their vehicle was also considered totaled.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Adair County Sheriff's Office, Adair County Ambulance, Brashear Fire and First Responders.
