  • Retires after 36 years of service

  • On March 1, Dale Niece of Green City, Mo. retired from the Missouri Department of  Transportation.
    Niece began his career in January 1977 as a crew worker at the Green City maintenance facility. In 1989 he was promoted to a senior crew worker at that facility. He then moved to the Milan facility as the maintenance supervisor in    August 1992 and served in that position for 10 years. In October 2002, Niece became the maintenance superintendent in the Macon district office. When MoDOT reorganized in 2011, Niece became the superintendent of the west area, which is the position he retired from. Niece had 36 years of service with MoDOT.
    "I have really enjoyed my 36 years with MoDOT," said Niece. "I will miss the individuals I see each day, but will carry with me the lifelong friendships that have been built over the years."
    After retirement Niece plans to spend more time working on the farm, hunting, fishing and attending St. Louis Cardinal games.
