There is plenty to do- right here in your own backyard!

Working in Tourism means a different schedule every day. We love to plan new events, welcome guests from out of town, and work up itineraries for groups passing through. A full calendar of annual events keeps us busy with something new every month of the year.  But the one task that we work on every day, all the time is proving that there really is plenty to do in Kirksville!

Our work focuses on folks from out of town. The goal and purpose of our office is to fill up hotel rooms, encourage economic development, and establish tourism as an industry in our community. But our best tourism ambassadors are neighbors, friends, and colleagues- in a word, you. Though our work is to promote Kirksville to visitors, even we cannot forget the resources in our own backyard.

We hope to dispel the myth that there is nothing to do in Kirksville. Each week we will feature something unique, fun, or inspiring about Kirksville. Then we will share current events to keep you busy through the week.

We hope to encourage you to strike up a conversation with an old college roommate or a sister in another state and say, “Why don’t you drive up for a visit?” We hope to remind you of your old favorites and introduce you to something new. We hope that the next time you hear someone say, “There is nothing to do,” that you will help us open their eyes to all there is right here in our own backyard.
