According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a La Plata woman was injured in a one-vehicle accident Thursday morning east of South Gifford.
According to the Highway Patrol, at 11:10 a.m., a 1993 Ford Econoline van, driven by Shirley Nootzaar, 69, of La Plata, was eastbound on Highway 156, one mile east of South Gifford, when she lost control on the snow-covered road, traveling off the road, striking a ditch, overturned and came to rest on its top.
Nootzaar received moderate injuries and was taken by Macon County Ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville. Nootzaar was wearing a seat belt.
The patrol was assisted by La Plata First Responders, Macon County Rural Fire and Macon County Rescue Squad.

According to the Highway Patrol, at 2:55 p.m., a 2009 Dodge Caliber, driven by William Hanks, 23, of Kirksville, was northbound on Highway 63, one mile north of Atlanta, when he lost control on the snow-covered road and overturned.
