Click it or Ticket

Captain James E. Wilt, who is the commanding officer of Macon,   announced that Troop B officers will be joining a statewide effort with   other law enforcement agencies for a more aggressive "Click It Or Ticket" mobilization on February 22.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol Sergeant Brent Bernhardt, there will be extra officers on patrol focusing specifically on seat belt    violations in the state of Missouri. But more individuals are focusing on seat belts than just the Highway Patrol.

There has been a long-running proposal to raise Missouri's seat belt   violation fine from $10 to $50. And that proposal started gaining support on Wednesday from police, doctors, truckers and many more.

"We are for any type of legislation that supports traffic safety," said Bernhardt. "The legislatures job is to enact laws that they see fit, and it is our job to enforce laws as they are presented to us. We just want more motorists to buckle up and save more lives."
