Howard Hartung, 87, of Ten Mile, MO, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013, at Samaritan Hospital in Macon.
Howard was born on October 13, 1925, in Macon County, MO, the son of Edgar Eugene and Freda (Alvoid) Hartung. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippine Islands as a combat medic. Howard was united in marriage to Darlene Day on June 22, 1947, in Macon. He worked for many years as a pharmacist and also farmed, auctioneered, and preached the gospel. Howard loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with all his heart and enjoyed hunting, trapping, and especially spending time with his family.
Howard is survived by three sons, Darryl Hartung and his wife Dianna of Camdenton, MO, Larry Hartung and his wife Patty of Ten Mile, and Shawn Hartung and his wife Donna of Lee’s Summit, MO, seven grandchildren, GaDawn Hartung, Stephanie King and her husband Jason, Angel Hartung, Eric and his wife Jonea Hartung, Preston Hartung and Brandi, Shawna Hartung and Chuck, and Jared Hartung, and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on September 6, 2012, one grandson, Cody Hartung, and one brother, John Hartung.
Memorial services will 11:00 am, Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon. Visitation will be from 9-11 am, Saturday morning, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to “Gloryland”. An additional service will be held at “Gloryland” at a later date.
