The Macon County Economic Development held its third Annual Investors Luncheon on Friday, and it turned out to be a rather touching event.
More than 60 local investors attended the luncheon thats main focus was to celebrate Macon and its successes through the years.
According to the Director of Economic Development, Denise Bennett, "it was a very humbling experience to see that many people come out and show their support."
There were many speakers of the evening including: the Macon County Economic Development Board President, Kevin Butner; the Junior Achievement team, Steve Burnett who is the General Manager of POET and many more. However, City Administrator Allan Muncy's speech turned out to be quiet moving for some.
"To me the cause of economic development is to try and enhance the quality of life, for everyone in the region," said Muncy in his speech. "It takes a community, it takes leadership from community leaders, and it takes the presence of mind from everyone in our area, that they to, in many ways, play a part in the cause, we call economic development."
The luncheon was held at the Macon Comfort Inn and was catered by Nolands from 11:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.
