  • The Immaculate Conception School celebrated 100 days of school on Tuesday. In years past, the kindergarten class always celebrated by counting 100 items within the classroom. This year, the kindergarten class decided to work outside the classroom by collecting canned goods. Their goal was 100 cans, but according to Kindergarten teacher, Mindy Schneider, the students collected 130 cans total.
"They went well above our expectations," said Schneider. "The first day we had one and two days later we had 70."
The canned goods will be donated to the Macon County Ministries.
"Overall it was a great school-wide effort," said Schneider.
There are 69 students who attend Immaculate Conception and participated in the canned food drive.
In addition to collecting cans, the kindergartners participated in a 100 Hershey kiss hunt that took place throughout the school as well as other games. Many of the games involved counting to 100 by intervals of twos, fives and tens to help develop their math skills.
