  • Soto didn't return to the Macon County Jail after receiving a short release, but he is back in custody.

  • On December 26, Vicente Soto, 25, of Kirksville stole a white stretch limousine and headed south. Soto lead authorities on a three-county pursuit where he was stopped by a spike strip in Livingston County. Soto was taken to the Macon County Jail and was charged with tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest by fleeing, DWI, possession of drug paraphernalia and careless and imprudent driving.
    According to the Macon County Sheriff's Department, a judge ordered Soto a temporary special release on Friday for a doctors appointment in Kirksville. The suspect was picked up by his mother and was supposed to return by 5 p.m. Soto's mother called the Sheriff's office at 5:15 p.m. saying she had lost her son.
    Deputies apprehended Soto on Saturday afternoon after receiving a tip of a subject walking along the railroad tracks near Elmer.
    According to Sheriff Kevin Shoemaker, Soto is currently held in the Macon County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond.
    There will be a preliminary hearing in the Main Chamber Courtroom at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
