Today, there was a morning temperature of 10 degrees. Most of the week it was in the 20s and the ice is still frozen on the pond. Saturday brought an inch of snow.

A former minister at Gifford Christian Church returned to visit Sunday morning. Barry Richardson and wife, Sammie, and children, Ozzie, Zoey, Zadie and Ezekiel Richardson visited Sunday morning. Welcoming them were Chad, Amanda, Claire, and Morgan Belfield, Dean and Marietta Slaughter, Donna Gray, Kim and Leighton Shoop, Kirby Bailey, Debbie Newland, Richard and Sharron Burns and Nathaniel Iman.
Friends for La Plata
The Friends for La Plata Preservation met Monday evening at the La Plata Library . They worked on plans for the Flea Market to be held on Jan. 26 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Silver Rails Event Center.

Richard and Sharron Burns attended the La Plata High School Chorus and Band Concert Wednesday evening at La Plata High School.
La Plata Lions Club
The La Plata Lions club met Dec. 11, at the LaPlata Baptist Family Life Center at 7 p.m. Gary Cunningham called the meeting to order. Don Miller gave the invocation. Clyde Burch led the pledges. The group helped Diana Scott celebrate her birthday. They also helped Don and Dana Miller and John and Debbie Becker celebrate their wedding anniversaries. Guests at this meeting were Joyce and David Campbell of Cairo, Alan Kohler of Huntsville, District Governor Lisa Alexander of St. Charles, Past District Governor Freda Mc Kee and Dan Mc Gruder of Kirksville.
