  • Another year has come to a close, so what does that mean? Another year of New Year's resolutions, of course! Although there are many different options, a lot of individuals tend to focus on the same topic—their health and wellness.
Executive Director of the YMCA, Angela Prenger, says the traffic at the YMCA generally picks up around the holidays. "We notice a big influx," says Prenger. "Our New Year resolution individuals are always waiting at the door to start on their goals."
And adults aren't the only ones who can get involved with the YMCA this New Year. The YMCA also offers youth coed gymnastics, soccer, basketball and even a child watch area.
Although the YMCA's mission is "To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all," Prenger says that anyone can join regardless of faith.
If you aren't a member just yet, here is what you are in for: fill out a brief application and select payment. It's that easy! You will even get a one-on-one session with a certified fitness trainer for joining. This trainer will show you how to use all of the equipment, cardiorespiratory and strength training benefits, techniques and etiquette. Your trainer will write down everything you need to know on a card that will be left by the gym entrance waiting for you on your next visit.
For more information about the classes offered at the YMCA (shown above), visit the YMCA online at www.ymcamacon.org or call (660) 385-1818.
