Middle school age students attending Macon R-1 Summer Journey summer school picked out random cars to wash. Calling themselves the Phantom Car Washers the students' project was a part of a Service Learning class.

The first session for preschoolers ages infant to 5-year-olds was held on Monday, June 3 at the Macon Public Library. The program is part of the library's summer reading program, Dig Into Reading.

On Tuesday, May 28, participants from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Missouri Department of Conservation gathered to begin their annual run for Special Olympics. Honored participants this year were some members of Angela Laudwig’s Special Olympics group who accompanied the runners through Macon, taking turns carrying the torch. The students are pictured front row, left to right: Colton Frankenback, Ryan Sewell, Brandon Senholtz, Carson Mayes, Siera Sanders and Will Moore. The event helps raise funds and awareness for the athletes that participate in the Missouri Special Olympics.
