James K. “Jim” Maloney, 72, of Macon, MO, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the Boone Medical Center in Columbia, MO.
Jim was born on January 21, 1940, in Macon, the son of Arlo Barrett and Mildred Lucile (Shawk) Maloney. He graduated from Macon High School in 1958 and then attended Kirksville State College. Jim was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Oberto on March 23, 1961, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Macon. He owned and operated Jim Maloney Electric of Macon for over 50 years. Jim was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Knights of Columbus, Macon Elks Lodge, and Moberly Moose Lodge.
Jim is survived by his wife Pat of Macon, his son Jim Maloney and his wife Pam of Macon, granddaughters, Misty Maloney, Trayla Lowe, Kayde Maloney, and Shelby Maloney, great-grandchildren, Alloura Thompson, Kaleb Maloney-Smith, Keaghan Maloney-Smith, Brianna Lowe, Landon Lowe, his son, Gene Maloney and his wife Tina of Livermore, CA, grandsons, Christopher Maloney and Dominic Maloney, great-grandchildren, Michelle Martinez, Marie Martinez, Alyah Morrison, and Anthony Maloney, his daughter, Conta Bealmer and her husband Scott of Macon, grandchildren, Lainey Bealmer and Jordan Bealmer, his mother-in-law, Elva Oberto of Macon, one brother, Tom Maloney and his wife Janice of Macon, two sisters, Mary McCoy and her husband Charlie of Moberly, MO, Janie Fortenberry and her husband Monte of Clarence, MO, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Jesse J. and Stella (Palmer) Shawk and Mike and Marianna Maloney, and his father-in-law, Harold Oberto.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Thursday, December 27, 2012, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Macon with Father Dave Veit officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Macon. Prayer service will begin at 3:30 pm, Wednesday, at the church , with a visitation to follow from 4-8 pm. The family suggests memorials to the Macon County Rescue Squad or the Catholic School. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon.
