The Board of Public Works meeting was held Monday, Dec. 17. in the City Council's chambers. The following items were discussed.
General Manager, Stephanie Wilson, noted highlights from the financials for November 2012 in addition to year-to-date information. Wilson also recommended reappointing Deanne Hackman and Greg Gabriel for a two-year term for the Macon Economic Development Board—all approved.
Assistant General Manager Scott Lucas reported that the Macon Energy Center shut down on Dec. 4 to perform scheduled quarterly basic inspections and maintenance activities, but restarted later that day to perform all service work. Also, the turbine was shut down on Dec. 7 until Dec. 11 due to Poet Biorefining, Inc.'s work schedule.
Water and gas
The water distribution crew repaired a main leak while the wastewater collection crew jetted 35 sections of main for preventative maintenance. The Public Service Commission (PSC) conducted MMU's yearly inspection on Dec. 4-5 in the gas distribution department. QuestFore also conducted a phone survey in Audrain, Randolph and Macon counties as part of PSC requirements.
An inspection on a high service discharge pump at the water treatment plant was conducted and maintenance was performed. The monthly discharge monitoring report for the wastewater treatment plant was submitted to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Engineering qualifications continue to be reviewed for a modified or new plant.
The next meeting is schedules for Monday, January 28, at 5:30 p.m.
