Strongman and Motivational Speaker Bud Jeffries brought his program, “Stop Bullying Now!!” to Macon R-1 Middle School on Thursday, Dec. 13.
Jeffries told the students that he was hit by a car at a young age and spent a long period of time in the hospital in a full-body cast.
“The doctors didn’t think I would be able to walk when the cast was removed,” said Jeffries.
At that time physical therapy was not as available as it is today, so Jeffries’ mother worked with him at home. “I discovered that I had a talent for strength,” he said.
Jeffries completed several feats of strength during his presentation, but the message he brought to the students was simple:
•Be a champion in life
•Bullying is not cool
•Obesity robs each person of their potential
“Each one of you has a talent inside you. If you practice and don’t give up you can do amazing things,” Jeffries told his young audience. “Talent has two sides, an easy side and a hard side. Take something that is tough for you and work hard and practice to accomplish it.”
Jeffries encouraged the students to stay in school. “You will need every bit of education you can get.”
