Clauda “Violet” Montgomery, 90, of Macon, MO, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012, at her home in Macon.
Violet was born on January 28, 1922, in Luray, MO, the daughter of Onie and Mae (Harvey) Brown. She was united in marriage to Grover Ray Reed on November 17, 1936, in Macon who preceded her in death on August 23, 1962. Violet then was united in marriage to James O. Montgomery on May 22, 1965, who preceded her in death on May 31, 1992. She was a beautician for over 50 years and loved farm work. Violet enjoyed baking especially angel food cakes, quilting, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Violet is survived by her children; Elda Rae Cross and husband, Tommy of Wagner, OK, Reba Olson of Macon, Jo Ann Cosby and husband, Bob of Callao, MO, Jeffery Reed of Macon, Jack Reed and wife, Leea of Springfield, MO, and Carolyn Evans of Harrisburg, MO; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Rollie Brown, Charles Brown, and John Brown all of Nebraska, and Harold Brown of Macon and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Grover Ray Reed and James O. Montgomery, four children; James Reed, Carolyn Biondi, Eugene Reed and Stanley Jo Reed and one grandchild, David Reed.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 1, 2012, at 10:00 am at Hutton and McElwain Funeral Home in Macon. Burial will be in College Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 pm to 7pm at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Macon Food Pantry.
