On Monday, Nov. 26, at approximately 2:40 a.m., Macon Police Department Officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at the Colonel’s Flea Market in the 300 block of South Missouri Street.
According to Macon Police Chief Steve Olinger, upon arrival, officers observed a window in the front entrance was broken and no glass was left in the door. As officers were approaching the business, a white male subject was observed inside. When the subject saw the officers, he fled toward the back of the business. The officers set up a perimeter around the business and requested additional officers to respond to the scene. After a stand off with the suspect lasting approximately two hours, officers entered the business and apprehended him. The suspect was located hiding in the attic of the business and was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect, Dale D. Miller, 53, of Macon, was transported to the Macon Samaritan Hospital by Macon County EMS for examination and was later released to law enforcement.
He was then transported to the Macon County where he is being held on $50,000 bond.
Miller has been charged with felony burglary and property damage.
