  • BMC boys win Atlanta Tourney, girls claim 3rd

  • The BMC Jr. High basketball teams battled for trophies this past weekend at the Atlanta Tourney, with the Bulldog boys looking for an undefeated year.
    The Lady Bulldogs faced off against Brashear Friday night in the 3rd Place girls game.
    After a sluggish first quarter, the Lady Bulldogs would come to life, taking a 17-9 halftime lead.
    BMC would outscore Brashear 17-10 the rest of the game to take a 34-19 victory and the 3rd Place trophy.
    Caley Jackson led the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points. Cheyenne Peterson followed with eight points.
    Kellen Robertson scored five points. Megan Liebhart tallied four points, and Faythe Salmon added two points.
    For the Bulldog boys, the only things standing between them and an unbeaten season were the Novinger Wildcats.
    The two faced off in the boys championship game Saturday night, and BMC got off to a hot start, scoring 15 points in the first period. The Bulldogs would lead 25-15 at the break.
    After the third period, the lead for BMC neither grew nor shrunk. Both teams posted 10 points in the third, making the score 35-25.
    The Bulldogs would put the game away in the fourth quarter, outscoring Novinger 14-4 and rolling for a 20-point victory, 49-29, the tournament title and an undefeated season.
    Brendan McKim led the Bulldog attack with 15 points. Cyrus Hanson and River Wright followed with 10 points each.
    Dallas Epperson scored seven points. Dane Robertson tallied five points, and Curtis Mossbarger added two points.
    The Bulldogs do in fact end their season with an undefeated record of 14-0.
