Just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, majority of the tallies in the 2012 Macon County General Election were available for an unofficial total.
Macon County Clerk Shirley Sims said Macon County had a 67 percent registered voter turnout. In 2008 there was a 77 percent voter turnout. A total of 7,244 votes were placed in Macon County on Tuesday.
Circuit Court Judge
Incumbant Macon County Circuit Court Judge Frederick (Rick) P. Tucker (D) won with 3,793 votes to Macon County Associate Circuit Court Judge Philip Prewitt receiving 3,239 votes. There were three write-in votes. In Shelby County Judge Tucker received 1,599 votes and Judge Prewitt received 1,593 votes.
Commissioner Dist. #2
Macon County Commissioner Dist. #2 incumbant Jon Dwiggins (R) won with 2,132 votes. Democrat candidate John Meisner received 1,505 votes.
On Tuesday, voters in Macon County elected Tim Remole (R) of Excello for State Representative 6th District with 4,537 votes. Democrat candidate Diana J. Scott of LaPlata received 2,541 votes. There were three write-in vote.
Uncontested Macon County Candidates
Democrat candidate for Macon County Sheriff Kevin Shoemaker, who beat long time Sheriff Robert Dawson (D) in the August primaries received 6,234 votes. There were 89 write-in votes.
Alan Spencer (D) incumbant for Macon County Assessor received 6,152 votes. There were 37 write-ins.
Incumbant for Public Administrator Lois Jean Noland (D) received 6,001 votes. There were 22 write-in votes.
Macon County Coroner Brian Hayes (R) received 6,386 votes. There were 30 write-in votes.
John H. Schaefer received 6,045 votes for Macon County Surveyor. There were 27 write-in votes.
Local Use Tax
Macon County voters said no by a large margin to the Local Use Tax.
