Jean Cason, therapist and permeating enthusiast, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 after a yearlong battle with cancer. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012, at Osborn Funeral Home followed by a memorial service in the Osborn Chapel. Jean Patricia Mathews was born on February 25, 1951 to John and Clara Mathews in St. Louis, MO. Following graduation from Ritenour High School, she pursued her interest and curiosity in helping others at the University of Missouri. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology and moved to Shreveport with soul mate and husband, Dan Cason, in 1973. Jean joined the practice of Dr. Paul Ware in 1975 and received her Masters of Psychology from Louisiana Tech University in 1977. Specializing in marriage and family counseling, Jean valued her practice and emphasized the importance of each patient, ending her practice with her supportive colleagues at Shreveport Family Counseling. Jean was a lifetime PTA member and leader of University Elementary, Youree Drive Middle School, Captain Shreve High School and Caddo Parish District PTA during and beyond her two children's educational careers. Jean's attention to detail, love of water and the outdoors, and passion for embracing life will be missed the most. Her contagious spirit and energy is celebrated and continued by her surviving family- husband, Dan, sister, Joan Epley and family, brother in law, Bill Cason and family, son, Adam Cason and wife Angela, daughter, Valerie Cason and grandchildren Weston and Chloe Cason and many other family members.
