A re-dedication ceremony was held on Monday for the memorial erected in honor of MoDOT employees who have lost their lives in service to District 2. The memorial was moved from the former District 2 office in Macon to its new home at the Northeast District Macon Regional Office on Highway 63, north of Macon. Eight names are listed on the memorial. Several family members of those who gave their lives were present for the ceremony. Paula Gough, MoDot District Engineer is pictured welcoming those attending. The invocation was given by John Morris, Macon Maintenance. MoDOT Director Kevin Keith was the guest speaker. Keith asked that all those present remember those who lost their lives and also those who risk their lives every day in work zones. “All they want to do is go home safe each night to their families,” said Keith. “Please slow down and move over when driving in a work zone.” A moment of silence was observed as the names on the memorial were read. Assistant District Engineer Kevin James closed the program with the reading, “In Silent Tribute”.
