The Macon Women of Today will be sponsoring their second annual fundraiser to benefit the Randy Johnson Memorial Fund and raise awareness for the prevention of breast cancer on Sept. 29 at the Macon Expo Center. The event will include a social hour from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. followed by a dinner from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased from any Women of Today member. Tables can hold 8 or 12 people. For an extra $25 donation, tables can be reserved.
This is a BYOB event. Set-ups will be available for purchase.
According to chairman Lois Noland, last year's event, "Save the Girls Night Out," raised $2,800 for RJMF.
This year's theme is "Save a Rack".
Entertainment for the night will be a "beauty" pageant consisting of several male community members competing for the title of "Mr. Juggs." Last year's winner was J.P. Hartung (aka Bubbles Boob-a-rina).
A "Booby Trap" contest will also be a part of the evening. For a $5 entry fee, anyone can enter a decorated bra in the competition. Some of last year's entries included: "Turkey Breast," "Heading South for the Winter," Kentucky Der-Bra," and "Keeping Abreast of the News."
Please bring your entry to the Expo Center at 5 p.m. the day of the event. The winner will be named by the amount of money raised by each entry. It is suggested that contestants decorate their bras early and collect donations for their creations in advance of the dinner. Money will be counted and a winner will be announced that night.
"We are hoping to make this year's event bigger and better," said Noland. "Local businesses or organizations who make a $50 (or more) donation will be recognized at the dinner."
