Macon Moment in History Aug. 21, 1983

The following Macon Moments in History were taken from the Aug 19-20, 1983, edition of the Macon Chronicle-Herald.

Macon Elementary teachers Barbara Schaeffer and Brenda Williams were pictured preparing for the first day of school.

Construction was underway for a new restaurant in Macon. Eric & Scott Chalgren are the owners of the Long Branch Restaurant that will be open seven days a week.

Degrees were awarded at Summer Commencement at Northeast Missouri State University. Among those receiving degrees were: Susan Belt McCarty, B.S.E. in Elementary Education; Marianne S. Perry Murphy, M.A. in Elementary Guidance and Counseling and Connie Vermillion, M.A. in Elementary Education.

Cheryl Long of Macon won a third place ribbon for her embroidered applique entry at the state fair.
