Robert R. Threlkeld January 22, 1926 - July 11, 2012
Robert R. Threlkeld, 86, of Macon, MO, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Macon Health Care Center in Macon.
Robert was born on January 22, 1926, in Oklahoma City, OK, the son of Harold and Lotus (Smock) Threlkeld. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII and later with the Merchant Marines. Robert was united in marriage to Marilyn Roads on November 16, 1948, in Shelbina, MO. Robert served in the Missouri State Highway Patrol from 1950 until he retired in 1983. He had attended the First Baptist Church in Macon. Robert enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, metal detecting, collecting and polishing rocks, and especially spending time with his family and friends.
Robert is survived by his two children, Suzanne Keith and her husband Billy of Chillicothe, MO, Jill McGuire and her husband Donnie of California, MO; three grandchildren, Shelley Staton and her husband Jeff of Chillicothe, Lindsay Bames and her husband Josh of Kansas City, MO, Emily Schreck and her husband Matt of California, seven great-grandchildren, Trace Staton, Emerson Staton, Jace Schreck, Jackson Schreck, Carson Barnes, Hayden Barnes, and Dillon McGuire, and close friend, Lola Miller of Macon.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marilyn, one grandson, Dane Threlkeld McGuire, two brothers, Bill Gilbert and Charles Gilbert.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, July 14, 2012, at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Bolin officiating. Burial, with full Military and Missouri State Highway Patrol honors, will be in Shelbina Cemetery in Shelbina, MO. Visitation will be Friday evening, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home in Macon. The family suggests memorials to the Missouri Association of State Troopers Emergency Relief Society or the Samaritan Healing Gardens.
