  • The Macon Rural Fire Department responded to two separate calls last night and early this morning.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Jeff McLin, the department responded to a call north of Macon on private property near the Missouri Department of Transportation maintenance sheds.

McLin said someone lit a fire on private property and left it. He said there was thick smoke around the MoDOT buildings.

A second fire call was early this morning around 2 a.m. He said a house was totally destroyed by fire on Kitty Hawk, north of Macon. Asst. Chief McLin said the house was owned by Juanita Wisdom. The cause of the fire was undetermined.

The Atlanta Rural Fire Department assisted at the scene with personnel and a tanker.
